Footage of JOOTS, Shoal Bay, NSW, [1942-1943]
Footage of various training exercises and the complex of HMAS Assault. The Joint Overseas Operational Training School (JOOTS) was established in Port Stephens, NSW during World War II. Both U.S. and Australian troops were stationed and trained with the HMAS Assault military base. HMAS Assault was one component of the broader Fortress Newcastle defence network. Footage is courtesy of Port Stephens Historical Society, and taken between 1942-1943.
