Plan of HMAS Assault, Shoal Bay, NSW, [1941-1945]
HMAS Assault was a naval training base, and one component of the Fortress Newcastle defence network. Both U.S. and Australian troops were stationed and trained at HMAS Assault with the Joint Overseas Operational Training School (JOOTS). The base was located in close proximity to Fort Tomaree.
