hedfram2: Licensees seem to be a sequence of husbands then wives. 1865-Robert Hackworthy 1883-Jane Hackworthy 1885-Jacob Hall 1892-Margaret Hall The Black Diamond was closed by local option. Licence ceased on 22 July 1911.

Fenwick7: Jacob Hall was the second husband of my gt-gt grandmother Eliza ROACH. John, her first husband died when crushed between two skips at the Borehole Colliery, Hamilton, December 31st, 1880. He was buried in Christ Church cemetery. When Eliza died she was buried as Roach at Sandgate Cemetery. Her son John (my gt grandfather and his wife Ellenor are buried beside her.Jacob Hall was buried in the old Wallsend Cemetery which is now partly under the roundabout near the former Wallsend Hospital. The Black Dimaond Hotel was nororious as a place for abducting patrons to sail as crew on the ships of the day.
