Comment by Karen Smith: The bar of this hotel extended from Scott St to Hunter St. From what I've been told, through a friend of Terry Brain, it was the longest bar in Australia.

dunedoo: Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Pubs of Australia, and we'd love to have this added to the group! mgafox: It is interesting to see that they had the same problem then, as today, that they keep putting bloody powerlines in the way of a good picture!! Also there are two guys who have climbed out of the top floor windows and standing on the roof of the veranda hedfram2: This photo is dated correctly--it is certainly pre the latter part of 1893. By the end of 1893 tram tracks had been laid-in along Scott St. extending the steam tram system from the Perkin Street terminus to a new tram depot then nearly completed at Parnell Place overlooking Newcastle Beach.
