greysparrow: This house does not appear to have been preserved as a heritage building. If not, it's a shame. I note the trend of the time to paint verandah roofs with stripes. It's seen in many Snowball photos.

Dick Saunders: To correct the notes above, this image actually shows the FRONT of the house that faces Gwydir Rd. The house was on a double block of land that extended from Gwydir Rd up to Clarence Rd, and the house was situated on the elevated side of the block closest to Clarence Rd. Snowball's studio was at the REAR of the house which faced Clarence Rd (the address was 19 Clarence Rd). The house was built back-to-front presumably because of the north facing views of Lambton and Waratah. Looking south, the ridge of the hill behind Snowball's house is Russell Rd.

Buster Allen: Dick, the house was demolished sometime after 1993 and the block of land now has a duplex on Clarence Rd, and another duplex on Gwydir Rd. Snowball's collection of glass negatives was rescued from under the house by Norm Barney and Bert Lovett around 1988. The house was empty and derelict for many years before it was demolished.
