SummaryInterview by Mark Stephen with William 'Bill' Vernon the Secretary of the Caves Beach Progress Association in 1989 about the Swansea Bridge.
He talks about the railway line from the stone quarry at Caves Beach to the location of the original Swansea Bridge (area of the existing Swansea/Blacksmiths breakwater). Bill talks about the second wooden bridge built in 1908 and the many repairs it required over the years, the third bridge was completed in 1955.
He describes the many incidents, delays for vehicles due to bridge jams and the formation of the the Swansea Bridge Committee in 1985 to assist sought out these issues.
