SummaryInterview by Kerrie Young in 1988 with Leonard Young about changes in the railway.
Leonard started work in railways in 1954 as an engine cleaner, he worked at Port Waratah. In 1966 he became a fully qualified driver working on the class 38 engines and speaks about the 3801 "Newcastle Flyer". Leonard also drove the 6042 Garrett engine on its last run between Awaba and the Wangi Power Station in 1973.
In his 35 year career Leonard saw many changes in the mode of transport, from the steam engines to the XPT trains.
