<p>The wreck of the "SS Berbice" on Stockton Beach, photographed on 5 June 1888 by Ralph Snowball. Enroute from Melbourne to Newcastle, NSW, the "Berbice" struck a sandbank and washed ashore at Stockton Beach. Snowball photographs it as a crowd gathers in awe. Some individuals venture to climb onto the heavily canting vessel.</p>
