These recipes were collected by Mrs. J. C. W. Stretch in a small book titled The Hunter Valley Cookery Book, copies of which were sold for one shilling to raise funds for 'Parish Assessments (Missions at Home and Abroad)'. Mrs. Stretch's husband, was appointed Canon J. C. W. Stretch of the Christ Church Cathedral, Newcastle, in 1952.
