Professionally printed poster promoting the Hunter Orchestra's Mattara Special series, featuring Amadeus II (Mozart at the Civic Theatre), Cathedral concert (featuring Brahms and other composers at the Newcastle Cathedral), and Family Concert (featuring Brahms and the Mattara Concerto at Scone).
Ulric Burstein was the founding director of the Hunter Orchestra, as well as the founding director of the University Choir.
The Mattara festival started in 1961 is held annually every spring. The name "Matarra" means "hand of friendship" in the Awabakal language.
The concert series sponsor, Shoey's was a local supermarket chain. It was purchased by Coles during the 1980s.
