InformationThis poster is part of the University of Newcastle collection of posters (1970-1990) that were collected over the decades and housed in Special Collections. This poster collection reflects the history of Callaghan campus, and are a testament to the enduring spirit of student protest and social change and movements. The collection covers themes like defence, militarization, sexism, women's rights, and LGBTQ+ equality and many more.
This photocopied and handwritten poster promotes a performance of the chamber jazz group Posh, featuring Jane Rutter (flute), Hugh Fraser (double bass) and John Huie (singer and guitarist) in association with Musica Viva. It was reformed as Third Culture World Chamber Music. Jane Rutter went on to become a well known and respected flautist internationally, while John Huie created sound for film soundtracks and advertising.
The display of this poster on campus is a piece of evidence that speaks to the long relationship between the University and the Newcastle Region Art Gallery, ending in a partnership between the two institutions.
