This is a scan from University Library Creative in Residence 2024, Carl Caulfield's notebook reflecting research with Special Collections resources. Outcome of this research was a script and performance of The Reformation of Joseph Lycett. 

Contains notes from the convict memoirs of James Hardy Vaux – written in Newcastle [1819]. At the back of the memoir, there’s a detailed glossary of the thieves cant or “Flash” language (forged in the London “Flash houses” – which were criminal pubs with their own codes!) and deployed by the convicts.
