Autonomy Day, about 1965.  The Margel Hinder sculpture for Civic Park had been announced but the architecture students created their own sculpture, albeit an early study, and it was taken by truck and installed on the grass where the final sculpture still stands. The plan was to get in early and not make Newcastle wait for the final scheme.

From the left, the visible faces are of: Bob Donaldson, John Wilson, Wal Mursa, and Phillip Page with his hand elevated. Probably Charles Martin on the far right. The sculpture was created and finally completed by Ian Farnham before its mysterious removal at night.
