The Miniature Newcastle Project is an ambitious initiative dedicated to recreating Newcastle’s industrial history through a detailed scale model, complete with an operational railway featuring trains of the period. The project aims to establish a new cultural landmark and tourist attraction for the region and the University of Newcastle’s Special Collections and Archives is supporting this project by engaging Career-Ready placement student Mila Knight.
This site showcases the work of Career-Ready placement students at the GLAMx Lab, who bridge the gap between historical research and archival engagement of the University’s unique collections, students gain hands-on experience in digitisation, curation, and accessibility of audiovisual archives. Research helps to uncover and preserve hidden historical narratives, ultimately curating stories that highlight the diverse heritage of our region for the Hunter Living Histories platform and can contribute to the Miniature Newcastle project.
The team are currently seeking enthusiastic contributors with a diverse range of skills to help bring this museum to life. Everyone is welcome to join our dedicated team. For more information see https://miniaturenewcastle.com/
