He spent his entire life in the coal industry. In the orange hat is Ted Davies, who also had Newcastle roots but had spent many years working his way up in the Mount Isa Mines organisation, where his nickname was Taipan Ted. Ted was Project Manager for the development of Mount Thorley.. Looking over Peter Murray's shoulder is the hatless Keith Smith, the first Mine Manager at Mount Thorley..
