    This crash occurred at the opening of Newcastle Speedway in November 1926. One spectator was killed and 30 others injured with seven people being hospitalised. The car was a Ford Special driven by Mr E King. The driver and his mechanic, Mr J McCabe, were uninjured in the crash. There were 40 000 spectators present on the night.
