This photo was published by the Newcastle Herald on Saturday 14 January 2012 in its A moment in time column. On Saturday 21 January, the Herald reported -

Trevor Fullerton emailed the Herald to say he was pictured on the far right of last week's photo.

Mr Fullerton said it was taken at The Junction Demonstration School in 1956 when Newcastle Teachers' College was located in Union Street, Newcastle.

"It was the first demonstration lesson observed by a group of students in their initial year of training, " he said.

"The [standing] students are, from left to right, Jocelyn Driscoll, Brian Evans, Patricia Dark, Bill Fowles and Trevor Fullerton."

David and Dale Dark of Clarence Town also sent an email, saying they had called David's sister Patricia Dark, (now Menzies) who now lives at Dorrigo and remembers the photo being taken.

BABETTE Jackson also sent an email about the January 14 Moment In Time, saying the man in the coat second from the right was her dearly loved late brother William (Bill) Fowles.

"He followed me to Teachers College under soldier retraining," she wrote.

"I believe he was the last World War II soldier to go through Newcastle Teachers' College.

"I estimate he was about 37 years old when this photo was taken.

"Bill was a very well respected teacher and he taught in a number of schools in Newcastle until his sudden death in 1974."

JANIS Cummings sent an email to the Herald about the photo published on January 14 of Newcastle Teachers College students at the Junction Demonstration School.

"I thought you might be interested to know the identity of the fair-headed young boy with glasses in the photo," she wrote.

"We believe it is my husband, Russell Cummings.

"He lived at Bar Beach and attended The Junction from 1955-1961 (he would have been about seven in the photo). I wonder who the other boys are?"

The student teachers have been identified as Jocelyn Driscoll, Brian Evans, Patricia Dark, William "Bill" Fowles and Trevor Fullerton.

Mrs Cummings remembers a Trevor Fullerton being a lecturer at the teachers college when she was a student there in the early 1970s.

Robert Gibson said he is the boy with the wavy hair sitting at the front desk on the right.He is sitting next to Barry Bradley.

''Robert is an accountant and Barry a civil engineer, both still working so still using the knowledge gained at The Junction School,'' Mr Gibson wrote.

''We both still live in the Newcastle area and regularly keep in touch.''

But Anne Jeffery also sent an email to the Herald saying the blonde child sitting on the right at the desk at the front is her late husband Robert Fairbairn, next to Phillip Woodcock.

''Robert Fairbairn's mother kept that photo for 40 odd years and remembered the day it was taken. She saved lots of photos from the Herald., when the kids had their picture taken,'' she wrote.
