Built by Baldwin in 1891, this locomotive was the second of a class of twelve. This image dates to before 1924, when this locomotive would have been re-numbered to 2302 as part of the new Z23 class. The water gin behind the tender indicates a location in western NSW, after the locomotive had been retired from east coast passenger services and relegated to less critical work.
