Flickr Commentbeachcomberaustralia: Aha! I bet this has a lot to do with several Rodoni photos in the Australian War Memorial collection. Particularly this one - www.awm.gov.au/collection/H12589/ - "Angorum, New Guinea. 1914. The King of local native tribes in the area on the deck of HMAS Warrego. (Donor T.J. Rodoni)" Except that the ship's lifebelt seems to read NUSA ... beachcomberaustralia: Aha again! The NUSA was a former German Navy Yacht.
