CollectionUniversity of Newcastle HistoryFlickr Commentdanieldacey: The photographs of Newcastle shops, Jesmond center and such things as some of the transport buses etc, along with pictures of a landladies home were commissioned by mother Kathleen Dacey who was the accommodation officer for the University at the time. They were taken to show overseas students, particuarly those from Singapore, who made up a large contingent of Newcastle Universities overseas student cohost, the local amenities in the community and to give students an idea of what accommodation was like if they choose to board in a persons home near the Uni. She is actually in several photos posing as the land lady! lol I believe the University photographer at the time took most of them if not all of them. Unfortunately I can't recall his name.
