Robyn Fernley - Women's Hockey 
Robyn has been selected in the New South Wales team to contest the Australian Championships in Adelaide at the end of July.  She is the first student from the University to be selected to represent the State in senior competition. 
Terry McLennan - Squash 
Terry has been selected in the Combined Australian Universities team to play a Test Match against a Combined New Zealand Universities team, in Sydney, during August.
Glyn Cox - Athletics 
On June 28, Glyn finished an outstanding third in the New South Wales Marathon Championship, held at Richmond.  He took six minutes off his previous best time to complete the 26 miles 385 yards distance in two hours 32 minutes.  This was eight minutes inside the qualifying standard for the National Title and Glyn can be considered certain of selection in the State team to go to Melbourne in August.

SPORTING NEWS 
The Blues Dinner in Edwards Hall on March 19 was a bright and eventful occasion.  The outstanding feature was the presentation of blues to five university sportsmen and sportswomen.  A noteworthy statistic, which Emeritus Professor Brin Newton-John made known, is that membership of the University Blues "club" now numbers 73.  
The Vice-Chancellor presented Blues and Sports Union Colours.  The recipients, and their sports:- 
BLUES: 
    Glyn Cox (Athletics), 
    Robyn Margaret Fernley (Women's Hockey) , 
    Pamela Dawn Hazelwood (Women's Hockey), 
    Graeme Austin Walsh (Rugby Union) and 
    Terrence Dale McLennan (Squash) 
SPORTS UNION COLOURS: 
    Terry Ramage (Rugby Union), 
    Terry John Kachel (Rugby League), 
    Raymond John Armstrong (Squash) and 
    Pamela Martin (women's Hockey). 
The attendance of 252 guests was a record for Blues Dinners.  Professor George referred to the high standard of the preparations and said the night was important to the University.  Not everybody could win a Blue, as the requirements were formidable, and the gathering allowed the guests to recognise extremely gifted students.  Professor Newton-John, who proposed the Toast to the winners of Blues and Colours, recalled earlier Blues Dinners held in Peter Doyle's Cellars and Newcastle City Hall and commented that the functions created a special atmosphere.  He felt that the University's Blues Association must be unique because it fixed its own standards and worked as a sub-committee of the University Council.  Membership of the Blues "club" was decided solely on merit.  Pam Hazelwood expressed sincere appreciation on behalf of the recipients of the honours and their sporting clubs.  Graeme Walsh was congratulated by the President of the Sports Union (Mr B.P. O'Shea) for having been awarded the George Haggerty Cup for the Sportsman of the Year.  Mr O'Shea said the award was made to a person who combined performance, club loyalty and sportsmanship.  
Mr Judy Patching, Secretary-General of the Australian Olympic Federation and Recreation Officer for the City of Melbourne, was guest speaker for the evening.
