• The University of Newcastle offers a free online course in Natural History Illustration.
• Newcastle has a long history of nurturing natural history illustrators, including the Scott sisters of Ash Island, whose illustrations were published in the 1860s.
• We have a large collection of works by artist Margaret Senior, who left a bequest to UON to encourage others studying in natural history.
• There were a number of convict artists under Captain Wallis's command in Newcastle who created natural history illustrations.
