rodcbutcher: That is not an RML 9 inch gun - the barrel profile is nothing like the Woolwich wrought-iron guns. It could be an RML 80-pounder 5 ton gun, which was a conversion from the old cast-iron 68-pounder gun. There were 3 of these converted guns at Fort Scratchley. However, the 80-pounders typically had steel mountings, and the wooden mounting seen here is more typical of those used for RML 64-pounder 71 cwt converted guns.
