Trainee-pilot Wal. Jervis sits in a Link-trainer (a machine that "flies" on the ground), recently installed at Newcastle Aero Club. The machine simulates all the movements of a real long-range aircraft, and the pupil flies blind. He receives instructions through a telephone from a nearby desk. After the "flight," he sees his flight track plotted on a map.
