    By: Lindy Henderson16th Jul 2021 4:12PMThe photo shows the piano being presented to me (Lindy Henderson) by (possibly) Vince Millington who was Appeal Chairman for the Newcastle Conservatorium Foundation. I held the winning ticket in a draw at a Champagne Concert in July1990, which was part of a fundraising effort for the conservatorium at the time. I was not able to be at the concert, and this presentation took place in the Con. soon afterwards. The prize was a Yamaha C5 grand piano. In 2021, I still have the piano, which has been played by leading pianists including Gerard Willems and Roger Woodward, and international Misica Viva artists, has been used for piano masterclasses, performance rehearsals and competitions, and remains in excellent condition. It has fostered a happy association between my family and the musical life of Newcastle. Incidentally, I was not a music student.
