The weatherboard store, designed by architect Ernest George Yeomans, was erected in 1899, and had been demolished by September 1902, to make way for the erection of the brick clad General Roberts Hotel. 

Baldy McSpecs: This building was replaced by a brick hotel in 1903. The first licensee was the same person who owned the store: Frederick Roberts.
