DescriptionThese compressors were something of a show piece at the mine and were always kept spick and span. They provided compressed air to the mine which was piped underground and used to power various mining equipment. This image was scanned from one in Jim Comerford's collection of photographs of Richmond Main Colliery, c.1915 - c.1975.
