Label reads: "Laira In the late 1890's Capt. Stentiford a retired sea captain and lover of good red wine acquired land and planted a small vineyard in Coonawarra which he named "LAIRA"after a ship of that day and, in a thatched roof building which still stands today he made some of the first wine produced in Coonawarra From these same vines on the famous red bank of Coonawarra comes this superb claret our first bottling and at present the only wine being bottled in Coonawarra red. At the 1967 Royal Melbourne Show this wine was awarded a silver Medal and inthe 1967 Australian Championship wine show at Adelaide in the open class it was awarded a Bronze Medal E. and N. Brand"
