Nottage who joined his Uncle, Thomas Hardy (Founder of the Company) in 1884. He managed the vineyards and cellars at McLaren Vale for over 60 years and the vineyard is on the site of his original home. The soil of the Nottage Hill vineyard is sandy loam, rich in ironstone, the aspect is westerly and the Shiraz grapes grown here produce clarets of great distinction. This bottle was binned in a deep cool cellar following maturation in Oak Puncheons for 2 years. The label depicts the original Tintara Cellars with the Nottage Hill vineyard in the background. Established Year 1853"
