Label reads: "The 1976 Vintage in the Hunter Valley has produced White wines that are light and delicate with good fruit and a high acid finish. This vintage experience hot dry conditions through Spring and early Summer and then increasingly wet conditions from mid-January to the end of February. The hot climate during the ripening period had toughened the skins of Semillon grapes and those that we picked early were still in good condition. The grapes for this wine were picked early in vintage from the old vines of our Short Flat vineyard. The juice was fermented cold under slight pressure in old German Oak casks which has retained the rich fruit flavourand high green/gold colour of the Semillon grape. I believe this to be a top White wine of this vintage and like all great Hunters it will improve and develop if allowed to age in the bottle. Murray D. Tyrrell Winemaker."
