Labrel reads: "Pendarves 1997 SHIRAZ Pendarves is situated in the Lower Hunter Valley in an area geographically known as the Bellford Dome of limestone With less rainfall and its unique soil Pendarves produces wines with great fruit intensity Typical Hunter Shiraz spice and pepper fruit balanced by sweet vanilla oak Rich fruit on the palate compliments the fine grape tannins Medical and wine historian Dr Phillip Norrie established Pendarves in 1986 and produced the first wine in 1991. It was discovered through his research that Sydney Cove and not Farm Cove as previouslt thought was the siteof the first vines planted in Australia hence the significance of the lithograph by kind permission of the Mitchell Library on the front label"
