SummaryInterview by Rosalind Evans with Betty Lind whose father Colin Chapman was one of the founders of the Newcastle Dramatic Art Club (NDAC). Betty has been involved with NDAC since age of 8 when the club was formed in 1939. Initially the club would meet in a small room in Hunter Street at the 'top of town'. The first production was 'Snow White', and second production ‘Rose Maree’ in May 1939. Colin Chapman also formed the Newcastle Philharmonic Society in 1942 and included people such as Trevor Bevan, Nell Webber and Susan Wingate. Betty recalls many of the players who have gone on the make professional careers in entertainment industry. Betty advises that the performance you can hear in the background of the interview were Young People's Theatre practicing the 'Sound of Music'.
