SummaryInterview by Narene Williams in 1987 with Eunice Elliott about the North Rothbury Mine lock out in 1929. Her father Walter Shaw involved the Lock Out, Eunice describes her fathers work at the work at the mine "dirty dangerous work". Described the coalfields community, education and transport. Recalls the Lock Out and what she had been told about the event, a lot of returned soldiers involved, as well as young boys. Life were difficult for women and children during the Great Depression, often having to accept charity, the mining community supported one another. Communities marched from town to town, people were shocked and devastated at the outcome of men being shot at.
