SummaryClarrie was born in Newcastle and in 1897 worked at Zaara Street Power Station from 1924 to 1962.
Zaara Street Power Station in Newcastle started generating power in 1915. Its generating capacity was increased as needed until 1959 when reductions began.
Finally in 1976 all equipment and buildings were retired. Clarrie describes his working life at the power station, the working conditions, the recreation and sport played with colleagues, and impact of the Great Depression.
