SummaryInterview by Valerie Randall in 1989 with Elsie Allan about the history of the town of Greta in the Hunter Valley.
Elsie's father was born in 1884 in Newcastle around the Wickham area, he moved to Greta in 1910 when Elsie was born. He worked at the Cann Bakery, next to the Masonic Hall in High Street. Elsie describes the bakehouse, how it functioned and the cakes that were baked there, as well as the areas bread was delivered, including Dalwood, Branxton, Lochinvar and Luskintyre. Her father eventually sold the bakery to 'Sylvesters'.
