SummaryInterview by John Denkin in 1988 with former coal miner Wilfred Dews about the Teralba and Stockton Borehole collieries. Wilfred was born in Victoria Street, Teralba, known then as "Monkeytown". Attended Teralba School in 1915 and at 14 started work at the pit top and went to 'Tech' in Newcastle to do math because he knew surveying was an important part of coal mining. He describes the employment conditions at the colliery, the hand-worked long wall mining, changing technology and wages.
