George was born in Cessnock in 1922, he left school at 13 to work on a dairy farm, and in 1940 he enlisted in WWII and went to New Guinea.
On his return he moved to Toronto where he eventually started a butchering business. He describes the community life in Toronto, his involvement with the RSL, School of Arts and YMCA.
