SummaryInterview by Judy Gavrilis in 1989 with "Toula" about the Greek Community in Newcastle.
Toula was born in Athens in 1929, the family lived in Athens between the areas known as America Square and Kipselli. Along with her brother and sister they completed their early education in Greece.
Her sister came to Newcastle, Australia with her husband in late 1940s, and Toula visited in 1953. She decided to stay in Australia and eventually settled in Newcastle where she married and had a family.
Toula taught Greek language at the Greek afternoon school in Newcastle and was an active member of the Greek Community, later she become an interpreter. She also completed the Open Foundation Course at the University of Newcastle, undertook various WEA courses and a Greek literature course through the University of New England.
