English Silver Penny, 1216-72
A silver penny of Henry III (1216 - 1272).
Obverse: head of Henry III. Inscription "Henricus Rex III".
Reverse: Long Cross. Henry extended the cross to the margin of the coin, instead of to the inner circle only. He was the first English king to put the numeral after his name.
