AddBy: Phil Rickard18th Oct 2020 10:38PMIt's actually a Tx-class. (When five 3ft 6in-gauge T-class 4-8-0s were converted to 5ft 3in they were reclassified Tx). Tx278 was formerly T252. Convt to broad gauge in 1923 and re-converted to 3ft 6in in 1949 upon which it got its old number back. All five were used on the lightly-laid lines in the Murraylands, and were based at Tailem Bend. (ref:Steam Locomotives of the S.A.R. [Fluck, Sampson,Bird 1986] [and isn't the picture back to front?]
