NSWGR 105 Class, no 105 or 106, caption reads 'A NSW train (Baldwin Engine and American Cars) in 1879', but actual date probably 1877.
NSWGR 105 Class (later U Class), built by Baldwin. Two locomotives were introduced in 1877, with a third entering service in 1879.
The locomotive in the image is one of the 1877 units, as the 1879 locomotive had an eight wheel bogie tender rather than the six wheel tender shown.
