The route had been extended from the old terminus in Railway Street, now City Road, just near the corner with Hugh Street. At the time the locals would comment that the bus now "went up the hill". You can see how the bus wheels are turned ready to make the u-turn to return to the top-of-town terminus via The Junction and Cooks Hill. The grey house behind the bus is still there at 87 Macquarie Street. Out of shot on the righthand side was the old Glebe quarry. This is now called Whiley Close. This terminus used to be the end of Macquarie Street before it was extended. The street turned right and went down Herbert Street to join Henry Street. The large buildings on the horizon are situated in Ocean Street, Dixon Park.
