    By: Mori Flapan4th Sep 2020 11:28PMIn the first decade of the 20th century, the Newcastle and Hunter River paddle steamers Newcastle and Namoi would run occasional summer excursions to Cowan Bay. One steamer would depart from Newcastle, the other from Sydney. They would rendezvous at Cowan Creek where friends from the two ports could get together for a few hours. Each steamer would then return home.
