About this photograph:

From the University newsclippings book B5406 (Jan-June 1961) the photo was used in an article in the Newcastle Morning Herald (25 April 1961) entitled "Piano for University Union". The text below the photo reads as follows:

"Professor B. Newton-John, who is head of the Division of Arts at Newcastle University College, is also conductor of the college Choir. He is seen playing a piano presented to the University College Union by the Chairman of the Union Develpment Committee (Mr D.L. McLarty), at centre. The Warden of the College (Professor Auchmuty) listens."
