InformationA related article appeared in The Newcastle Sun, 26 Apr 1932, page 4. "With Adventure at the Helm the Gullmarn arrives in Newcastle, First Stage of Trip." The article reads:
"With adventure at the helm and hope in the hold, the Gullmarn, with her happy crew, is in Newcastle. In the very early hours the little 34-foot cutter preceded the dawn past Nobbys and dropped anchor off King's Wharf. The crew now comprises Mr. and Mrs. Metcalfe and Mr. Nicholson, of Sydney, Miss Rene Saxby and Mrs. Bert Birtles, of Newcastle. Mrs. Birtles joined the Gullmarn here. Mrs.Metcalfe is a daughter of Judge Beeby, Miss Saxby a daughter of a onetime Headmaster of Newcastle Boys' High School..."
