This image was scanned from a photograph in the personal papers of Lieutenant Colonel Brent B. Rodd of Newcastle, NSW, Australia, held by Special Collections in the University of Newcastle Library, NSW, Australia.

It is from a collection by Lt. Col. Rodd, who served as a Major in the A.I.F. during World War I. He served with distinction, being wounded at the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux in 1918. His efforts are mentioned in Bean's official history of World War 1.

The photograph had no additional information with it, other than the signature 'Howard Harris' as seen in the bottom right hand corner.

South British was established June 14 1872 as the South British Fire and Marine Insurance Company of New Zealand. The company was incorporated on October 11 1907 and subsequently changed its name to the South British Insurance Company Ltd. In 1981, the company merged with the New Zealand Insurance Company. It was dissolved on November 30 2000 when it was merged with Belves Investments Ltd. The date of this photograph is unknown.
