This project was undertaken by the Coalfields Heritage Group and Towns with Heart over an 18 month period, culminating in an exhibition in the St Paul the Apostle Anglican Church Hall in Kurri Kurri from 25-28 April 2019 (inc).
The project involved the printing of more than 60 images of soldiers of the 33rd and 34th Battalions, scanned from the glass plate negatives taken by Alexander Galloway, a prominant Coalfields businessman, photographer and composer during World World War 1 mostly at the Rutherford Army Camp.
The exhibition will be going on the road to Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries, and to Special Collections in the Auchmuty Library, the University of Newcastle.
