Lived at Cessnock, 12 years – it was her first school and she went back three times after that.

Born in Manning District, Taree.
January 1922, first came to Cessnock.
Taught fifth class.
Sr. Alfonsus Kennedy was in charge of the convent.

Kevin Ryan in charge at the school.
Taught at Merewether after 12 years – she was in charge at Cessnock for 5 years then she went to Abermain. Sr Alfonsus was there before she was.

Mother Evangelist used to be the Mother General and Sr Eugene.
Sr. Cecilia was head in 1917.

There were 9 or 10 in the community when they lived up on the hill. Sr. Alaco was the nun on reserve also taught music. The little chapel.

More masses now in Cessnock and there’s a big cut in mining jobs in the district. The retirement village had just been completed.
Her mother was a Chapman who married Frank Stanmore.
