Early racecourses Kensington, Victoria Park, Roseberry and Ascot, Sydney metro area who ran under the rules of the Associated Racing Club.

Early racecourses Bellbird, Pokolbin, Rosedale, Millfield and Ellalong (used to be known as Barraba) in the Cessnock district. They raced under the same rules as the ARC.

In 1932 AJC was given full control of racing in NSW. This marked the end of the ARC.

Recalls Saturday/Monday race meetings - "double barrel" meetings. There were no grandstands but they used to bring out a mobile tote that the bookmakers worked.

The bookmakers Phil Jenkins and Billy Gilligan would be taking bets on the outside of the course from people who wouldn't pay the 4/- to get into the course

Bill Booth the policeman would do a walkabout. The horses would come from all over the place

Bert Strange came initially as a battler and he ran the paper shop and was a leading jockey for a while.

Sam Unwin was another leading jockey. He came back from Sydney when he finished his apprenticeship aged 21.

Joe Anderson wrote the book about Sam Unwin.
