George and Catherine Ross have been married for 63 years. They both emigrated to Australia in 1922 as they were originally from Fyfeshire, Scotland. George Ross began his mining career in Scotland, and on his arrival in Australia he started work at Bellbird were he also resided. During the lockout period, George Ross worked at Goninan and later at Lysaghts in Wollongong. He finished his working career at Kalingo at the age of 65. George and Catherine had two children, a daughter Elizabeth "Betty" Ross and a son James Ross.
